Waimate bin day - whispered wisdom
Waimate bin day - whispered wisdom
It's that sort of day
when the rubbish bins stay outside till late.
Once emptied, they now fill with rain
and wind-walk the pavement,
looking for a home.
The weather hisses
"Yeah..., just try it!"
and so we stay inside
with our cats.
Rain lashes at the windows
as if it is trying to tickle the house into submission
and the Southerly salutes
like a crowd watching the school bully.
I turn up the heater,
warming,
my hands gather around another cup of coffee,
and whisper and sip
the wisdom
that McKenzie bins are doing it tougher.
